Visa Information:
If you wish to study in Australia as an international student, you will need a valid temporary visa with the appropriate study entitlements. For most students, you'll be required to have a student visa issued by the Australian Government.Before you apply for a student visa, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
have been accepted to study full-time at La Trobe University
hold a passport that has been valid for at least six months
have valid Overseas Health Insurance for the entire duration of your studies
have a valid visa if you are onshore at the time of application
if you are under 18 years of age, you’ll also need to demonstrate appropriate welfare arrangements for your time in Australia.
Once you’ve applied for a student visa, you will receive an outcome in writing from the Australian Government. If successful, you’ll be notified of your visa grant number, date of expiration and visa conditions.

Yes, La Trobe University offers a variety of internship and industry placement opportunities for international students, both within Australia and abroad. Here's a breakdown of the main options:1. Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)
Embedded in many degrees (especially in health, engineering, and education). Includes clinical placements, fieldwork, and professional experience. These are compulsory for certain programs and required for professional registration.
2. Elective Industry Placement Subjects
Available to students who have room in their degree for electives.
Offers 100–400 hours of supervised, academically-supported placements. Open to international students across various disciplines.
3. Career Ready Industry Experience
A 2–3 week virtual project-based internship.
Doesn’t count toward course credit but provides real-world experience. Open to students from any degree and at any stage of their studies.
You must comply with student visa conditions when undertaking internships or work placements. Some internships may require additional documentation or visa permissions.
La Trobe provides career support services to help you find and apply for placements.

To be eligible for study abroad, you’ll need to meet English requirements and academic requirements.As a general guide, La Trobe requires a C average for entry into study abroad and exchange programs (GPA 2.5). Individual subjects may have their own prerequisites which you’ll also need to meet.

If you're currently completing your last year of secondary school, or have graduated but haven't yet enrolled in university, the requirements are a bit different. For the undergraduate degree you select from your study abroad program, you'll need to meet the minimum academic requirements and you'll only be able to study first-year subjects or subjects with no prerequisites.

Only a couple of minutes from the ICMS campus in Manly you can watch stunning sunsets over Sydney.
