Preparing for My Semester Abroad in Kuala Lumpur<\/h1>\n

Getting ready for Asia Pacific University in Malaysia<\/h2>\n

For me, the most important first step was to clarify all registration matters with the university. This went perfectly. I had a contact person both at the partner university, at World of Students, and at my home university. Everything was organized step by step, and I was always reminded of deadlines, such as payments or documents that needed to be submitted.<\/pee>Next came the search for accommodation. At first, I did my own research and found some good options. In the end, however, I decided on a student dormitory in order to have more contact with other students. There is also a shuttle service from the dormitories to the university, making the commute quick and safe. The university offers many housing options, and all accommodations are very well equipped, including fitness centers and swimming pools.<\/pee>Regarding the necessary documents, nothing could be forgotten, as the university provides a detailed list, for example regarding health insurance, recommended vaccinations, or other required paperwork. For cultural preparation, I decided to take a language course at the university. Even though everyone speaks English here, I wanted to improve my language skills personally and immerse myself more fully in life in Malaysia.<\/pee> One of the main challenges at the beginning of my semester abroad was the jet lag: due to the seven-hour time difference, it was difficult to fall asleep at first. I also had to get used to the climate, as the high temperatures and humidity were initially unfamiliar. However, after five to six days, my body adjusted without any problems. The traffic was another adjustment, since the rules are not always strictly followed. Therefore, it is important not to be afraid of heavy traffic and to stay attentive at all times.<\/pee> One of the biggest surprises for me was the friendliness of the Malaysian people. I felt very welcome and safe from the very beginning. I was also amazed by the landscapes and beaches of Malaysia \u2013 there are incredibly beautiful places I had not even considered before. Kuala Lumpur itself is extremely modern, with impressive skylines and numerous skyscrapers everywhere. The food was another pleasant surprise: before coming here, I was not a big fan of Asian cuisine, but in Malaysia the food is much fresher, more flavorful, and far more varied.<\/pee> [\/et_pb_code][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_code _builder_version=”4.25.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n
